Cabin maintenance standards defined by OEMs and airlines may not be necessarily designed with passenger satisfaction in mind. As a result, cabin quality (reliability, appearance and cleanliness) may not consistently meet passengers’ expectations which in turn could impact satisfaction. Accurate interpretation of in-flight satisfaction surveys would allow airlines to identify cabin quality issues and provide guidance on improvement opportunities but these are often misinterpreted.
